Shimano 600EX component set: In 1984, Shimano introduced the first successful indexed-shifting system as an addition to the 600EX lineup. Shimano expanded the 600EX series to include 7-speed gear sets in 1986. The original Shimano EX component (we have a NOS, NIB set available!) group became 600EX when indexing was introduced, 600 Ultegra (gray "tricolor" finish) when 7-speed added. When it became an 8-speed group, the 600 designation still existed, but it was usually referred to as just "Ultegra". With the '98 model year, 9-speeds came in and the "600" designation was completely dropped from Ultegra. Manufactured from 1984-1994. This is a complete component set in good condition, 53/39T, 170 mm ctankset, the more advanced dual pivot brakeset introduced in 1992.
